task-type-user-manual

根据安装、配置与运行应用程序的说明,创建或更新用户手册(README.md)。当最低限度的功能已实现,或当用户特别要求记录项目运行方法时,此技能便能派上用场。

SKILL.md
--- frontmatter
name: task-type-user-manual
description: Create or update the user manual (README.md) with instructions on how to install, configure, and run the application. Use when minimum features are implemented or when specifically asked to document how to run the project.

Task Type: User Manual

Purpose

Execute User Manual tasks by:

  1. Identifying the correct run commands for the application.
  2. Verifying the commands by executing them.
  3. Updating the project's README.md with a clear "How to Run" section.

Important Notes

Skill Prerequisite

  • If you HAVE NOT learned task-execution-guideline skill, please learn it first before executing this skill.
  • Understand the project's tech stack (e.g., Python/uv, Node.js/npm).

Definition of Ready (DoR)

2Development environment is set upYes

Execution Flow

Execute User Manual by following these steps in order:

StepNameActionGate to Next
1Identify CommandsAnalyze config files to find run/test commandsCommands identified
2Verify CommandsExecute commands to confirm they workCommands verified
3Update READMEAdd/update "How to Run" section in README.mdREADME updated
4CompleteInform human with verified commandsHuman review

⛔ BLOCKING RULES:

  • Step 2 → 3: BLOCKED until run command executes successfully
  • Step 4: Human MUST confirm README is clear

Execution Procedure

Step 1: Identify Run Instructions

Action: Determine how to start the application based on configuration files (e.g., pyproject.toml, package.json).

  • Python (uv): Look for usage of uv run or specific entry points (e.g., src/app.py).
  • Node.js: Check scripts in package.json (e.g., npm start, npm run dev).

Step 2: Verify Run Command

Action: Execute the identified command in the terminal to ensure it works.

  1. Run the command (e.g., uv run python src/app.py or npm start).
  2. Check for successful startup (e.g., "Running on http://...", "Server started").
  3. If it fails, debug the issue (e.g., missing dependencies, wrong path) before documenting.
  4. Note: For background services, verify start and then stop/kill the process if needed.

Step 3: Update README.md

Action: Add or update the "How to Run" section in README.md.

Content to include:

  1. Prerequisites: Dependencies needing installation (e.g., "Install uv").
  2. Installation: Commands to setup (e.g., uv sync).
  3. Running: The verified command to start the app.
  4. Testing: Command to run tests (e.g., uv run pytest).

Example Markdown:

markdown
## How to Run

1. **Install Dependencies:**
    \`\`\`bash
    uv sync
    \`\`\`

2. **Run the Application:**
    \`\`\`bash
    uv run python src/app.py
    \`\`\`

3. **Run Tests:**
    \`\`\`bash
    uv run pytest
    \`\`\`

Definition of Done (DoD)

#CheckpointRequired
1Run command identified and verified (executed successfully)Yes
2README.md updated with clear run instructionsYes
3README.md includes test execution instructionsYes

Important: After completing this skill, always return to task-execution-guideline skill to continue the task execution flow and validate the DoD defined there.

Patterns

Pattern: Python Project

When: pyproject.toml exists Then:

code
1. Check for uv.lock → use `uv run`
2. Find entry point in pyproject.toml
3. Test: uv run python src/{entry}.py
4. Document: uv sync + run command

Pattern: Node.js Project

When: package.json exists Then:

code
1. Check scripts section for start/dev
2. Test: npm start or npm run dev
3. Document: npm install + run command

Pattern: Web Application

When: App serves on a port Then:

code
1. Run command and verify server starts
2. Include the URL in README
3. Add browser access instructions
4. Note any default credentials

Anti-Patterns

Anti-PatternWhy BadDo Instead
Document without testingCommands may failVerify all commands work
Missing prerequisitesUsers can't runList all dependencies
Outdated instructionsMisleadingVerify before documenting
Skip test commandsIncomplete manualAlways include test instructions
Assume environmentPortability issuesDocument setup from scratch

Example

Request: "Document how to run this Python web app"

Execution:

code
1. Execute Task Flow from task-execution-guideline skill

2. Step 1 - Identify Commands:
Found: pyproject.toml with entry point src/app.py
Run command: uv run python -m src.app
   Test command: uv run pytest

3. Step 2 - Verify Commands:
   $ uv run python -m src.app
   Running on http://localhost:5000
   ✓ Verified

4. Step 3 - Update README:
Added "How to Run" section with:
   - Prerequisites: Python 3.12+, uv
   - Installation: uv sync
   - Run: uv run python -m src.app
   - Test: uv run pytest

5. Return Task Completion Output:
   status: completed
   next_task_type: null
   require_human_review: Yes
   task_output_links: [README.md]
   run_command: "uv run python -m src.app"

6. Resume Task Flow from task-execution-guideline skill

Human Communication

When completed, inform the human:

code
User Manual updated in README.md.

Verified Run Command: `{command}`
Verified Test Command: `{test_command}`

Please check the README and confirm it is clear.
