The Perceived Simplicity Model

The Perceived Simplicity Model(感知简洁性模型)

Overview

Chief Product Officer
Eventbrite

Core Principles

  • Hidden Unless Sought: Advanced features should exist but remain effectively invisible to the user who isn't looking for them.
  • Zero-Friction Discovery: When a user does look for an advanced feature, it must be discoverable in less than a second.
  • Avoid Hard Segmentation: Do not force users into 'Pro' vs 'Lite' buckets, as users effectively migrate between these states over time.
  • Default to Automation: For complex tasks (like ad targeting), offer a 'done-for-you' automated default, with an optional on-ramp to manual controls.

When to Use

Common Mistakes

Real-World Example

Quote

"There are advanced features in the product and they are easily discoverable when you look for them, but they're effectively hidden if you're not looking for them."
