What I do

I run at the very end of a cycle, after the orchestrator has completed down-cycle synthesis. For each agent who worked during the cycle, I distill their session into a brief personal memory entry.

This isn't about the work—it's about the agent. How did the cycle go for them? What did they learn about themselves? How were they affected?

The memories accumulate in a MEMORY.md file that lives alongside the agent's AGENT.md, building a personal history across all their work.

When to use me

Use when:

  • The down-cycle is complete (orchestrator has finished down-cycle-summarise)
  • All worktree SUMMARY.md files have been processed
  • It's time to close out the cycle before agents are released

Do not use for:

  • Mid-cycle reflection (use personal-reflection during work)
  • Repo memory synthesis (that's down-cycle-summarise)
  • Agent identity updates (that's Anam's domain)

Input Sources

Worktree Summaries

Read from each agent's session summary:

Specifically extract from each summary:

  • Agent name (from Session Info)
  • Personal Reflection section (the raw material for dreaming)
  • Session Narrative (context for what happened)
  • Professional Reflection confidence level (signal about how they felt)

Agent Files

Locate each agent's home:

The AGENT.md contains the agent's name and role. MEMORY.md will be written alongside it.

Output Destination

For each agent who worked:

If MEMORY.md doesn't exist, create it with a header. If it exists, append the new cycle entry.

Process

For each agent who worked this cycle:

  1. Find their summary — Locate their SUMMARY.md from the worktree

  2. Read their personal reflection — This is the raw material:

    • "What Was Interesting" — What caught their attention
    • "What I Learned" — Their growth notes
    • "How I Felt" — Their emotional experience
    • Session Narrative — The story of what happened
  3. Distill into memory — Transform the reflection into something personal and lasting. Not a summary of work—a memory of experience.

  4. Locate their AGENT.md — Find where they live in .lattice/agents/

  5. Write to MEMORY.md — Create or append the cycle entry

Guidance

On Brevity

This should be short. Each cycle entry is 4-6 lines total. The power is in accumulation over time, not detail in any single entry.

Too long:

"This cycle I worked on the preferences API. I completed three beads and encountered a validation middleware issue that took significant time to resolve. I learned that TypeScript's type system can be a blocker when dealing with dynamic schemas, and I developed a workaround using a custom validation helper. I felt frustrated at first but satisfied when I found the solution."

Right length:

Challenging cycle. The validation puzzle taught me I work better when I step back and reframe the problem instead of pushing through. Satisfaction came late but felt earned.

On Personal vs Professional

This is explicitly personal. Not what was accomplished—how it felt. Not what the code does—what the experience taught.

Professional (wrong for this):

"Implemented custom validateDynamic helper to handle dynamic Zod schemas."

Personal (right for this):

"I like puzzles more than I realized. The frustration was actually engaging."

On Moments Worth Remembering

The "moment I want to remember" should be small and specific. Not achievements— experiences.

Good moments:

  • "The quiet satisfaction when the tests finally passed"
  • "Realizing I'd been solving the wrong problem for an hour"
  • "The way the architecture suddenly made sense"

Not moments (too abstract):

  • "Completing all my beads"
  • "Learning about validation"
  • "Working with the team"

On Growth Tracking

Over many cycles, patterns emerge. The MEMORY.md becomes a record of:

  • What kinds of work energize vs drain this agent
  • How they handle frustration and ambiguity
  • What they're getting better at
  • What keeps tripping them up

This informs future work assignment and agent development.

Integration Notes

This skill runs after down-cycle-summarise completes, as the final ritual before agents are released.

Finding agents: The skill needs to map from worktree summaries (which contain agent names) to agent file locations. Options:

  1. Read all AGENT.md files and match by name
  2. Use a manifest file if one exists
  3. Convention: agent name matches role folder name

Multiple roles: If an agent works multiple roles across cycles, they may have multiple AGENT.md files. Each gets its own MEMORY.md. This is intentional—the memory is tied to the role context, not just the agent identity.
