Translate the metaphor analysis essay to Spanish or Mandarin, inserting official quote translations.
Purpose
Produce a high-quality academic translation that:
- •Maintains scholarly register and terminology
- •Uses official Fitzgerald translations for all quotes (not AI-generated)
- •Preserves citation format appropriate to target language

Translation Guidelines
Spanish
Register: Academic Spanish, formal "usted" implied, passive constructions Key terms:
- •Conceptual Metaphor Theory → Teoría de la Metáfora Conceptual
- •American Dream → el Sueño Americano
- •Valley of Ashes → el Valle de las Cenizas
- •green light → la luz verde
Citation format: (Fitzgerald, Cap. X)
Structure:
- •Maintain markdown headers and formatting
- •Keep Works Cited section with original English titles
Mandarin
Register: Academic Simplified Chinese, formal written style Key terms:
- •Conceptual Metaphor Theory → 概念隐喻理论
- •American Dream → 美国梦
- •Valley of Ashes → 灰烬之谷
- •green light → 绿灯
Citation format: (菲茨杰拉德,第X章)
Structure:
- •Maintain markdown headers (in Chinese)
- •Keep Works Cited with original English titles plus Chinese annotations
Translation Process
- •Load resources: Read source essay and quote translations JSON
- •Section by section: Translate essay prose while preserving structure
- •Quote insertion: For each Fitzgerald quote:
- •Find corresponding entry in quote-translations.json
- •Insert official translation
- •Update citation format for target language
- •Terminology consistency: Ensure CMT terms are translated consistently
- •Final review: Check flow and academic register
Quote Handling
When encountering a Fitzgerald quote in the source:

Do NOT
- •Generate your own translations of Fitzgerald quotes
- •Omit quotes if official translation not found (use English + note instead)
- •Change the analytical content or arguments
- •Add commentary not in the original
Verification
After translation, confirm:
- •All quotes use official translations from lookup
- •Citation format is correct for target language
- •Section headers are fully translated
- •Word count is within 20% of original (translations may expand)
