Inclusive Collaboration
Goal
Make collaboration safer and more effective by design: clarity, turn-taking, respect, fairness.
Trigger signals
- •People aren’t speaking up, meetings are dominated, decisions feel unclear.
- •Misunderstandings across roles/seniority/culture.
- •“This feels unsafe / tense / political” without explicit conflict.
Core workflow
- •Make participation explicit: who needs to weigh in, and how.
- •Reduce ambiguity: define terms, constraints, “definition of done”.
- •Use structured turn-taking: round-robin, silent write, async doc.
- •Check assumptions: “What might we be missing?” and “Who is impacted?”
- •Decide with a clear rule and document it.
Templates
Safety line (meeting opener)
“I want dissent and questions early. If something feels unclear or risky, say it—no penalty.”
Inclusion nudge (neutral)
“I’d like to pause and hear from someone who hasn’t spoken yet.”
Bias check (lightweight)
“Are we evaluating the idea, or the person? What evidence would change our mind?”
Output defaults
- •For meetings: agenda + facilitation script + participation method.
- •For async work: a decision doc template + roles (driver/approver/contributors/informed).
Guardrails
Avoid moralizing. Keep it practical, observable, and process-based.
