Feedback Coaching

Principles

  • Be specific, observable, and time-bounded.
  • Make the ask measurable.
  • Balance care + standards.

Workflow (SBI + request)

  1. Situation: when/where.
  2. Behavior: what was said/done (observable).
  3. Impact: effect on outcome/people.
  4. Request: what to do differently next time.
  5. Support: what you will do to help; agree follow-up.

Improvement feedback

“In [situation], when you [behavior], it caused [impact]. Next time, please [request]. I can help by [support]. Can we check in on [date]?”

Positive feedback

“When you [behavior], it led to [impact]. Keep doing that, especially in [context].”
